This is totally from memory. I have a list somewhere but I'm not going to cheat and get the official names if I can't remember them. So this may sound funny. This is spread out betwee 1978-1992.

Uptown
Stanley Theater (Pittsburgh)
Blossom and the 2 Public Halls in Cleveland (big and little)
Alpine Valley
U of Iowa
Some hall in Indianapolis
Some hall in Baltimore
Some hall in Milwaukee
Merriweather Post
SPAC
River Bend in Cincinnati
O'Hara Arena (?) in Dayton
Rochester
Buffalo
McNicholls Arena
Mile High

I may be missing a few but that's the basic rundown. Nothing truly "West Coast" and nothing "East Coast" other than DC area.

Hey Flow, I think we went to almost all the same shows!

89-91

Oakland Colliseum 20+

Shoreline ( my least favorite venue ) 6

Sadly I barely missed them at the Kaiser, the Frost and the Greek ( my favorite out door venue, I like it better than Red Rocks )

Mile High Stadium Denver- 6-28-91

McNichols Denver - 2 ( Dec 92 ). My last shows, really bummed because I had shitty seats and the sound sucked and the performance wasn't the worst but still lackluster. After I moved up here I was really bummed I was missing out but now in hindsight I'm thinking it was better than witnessing even more decline.

Never saw the boys with Jerry... I was the ripe old age of 8 when the Fat Man left to go jam in the heavens.

But I have put a few shows in with the remaining members:

2004 - The Dead - Tweeter Center in Mansfield, MA
2006 - Phil and Friends - Tweeter Center in Mansfield, MA
2009 - The Dead - Rothbury Music Festival
2010 - Furthur - Ottawa Blues Fest
12/30/2010 - Furthur - Bill Graham Civic
6/4/2011 - Furthur - Shoreline Amphitheater
10/31/2011 - 7 Walkers - Great American Music Hall
12/31/2011 - Furthur - Bill Graham Civic
1/25/2012 - Ratdog at TRI Studios

Good times! Looking forward to Shoreline in September, NYE, and seeing some shows at Terrapin Crossroads.

So what's your own language? Wikipedia says the main ones are Khasi, Garo, Bengali, Nepali, Hindi, Marathia, Asamiya (Assamese, I assume?), Maram, Raba and Koch. That's an interesting mix for sure. How would you say something ordinary and everyday in Khasi, like, oh, "That's too expensive! Could you reduce the price a bit?"

Meghalaya Mama isn't here but my husband might speak some Khasi, since he spent some time in Meghalaya and is super good in languages. Teach me some and I'll surprise him :-)

So, given that it's getting late-ish ... Bom ja?

Yes, I'm American. Never been to India, just the border area. Hoping to go to Goa to the beach, though. The Northeast definitely sounds interesting.

'Bam ja noh' (lets hv dinner) not Bom...

well just heard them once twice & got hooked u know...can't explain the logic but I feel everyone have that kind of feeling/reception to a particular group, specially the Dead....once you're caught u'r caught! hook, line & sinker...& if you don't get it - you don't get it. I put them on the stereo almost every day but no one in my home seems to be that interested...not my wife not by brothers not my friends...

Assuming you're on Indian time, I'm 15 minutes ahead of you (in Kathmandu). The time stamp on forum posts is California time. For me right now it's 3:56 p.m. But most forumites are in the US, with some in the UK and occasional appearances from Thailand and Bali.

So my husband remembered it pretty well (bam/bom ja) for only one month in Shillong when he was 16, LOL. Khasi seems super difficult to me. Like Burmese or Thai rather than Hindi or Bengali.

Good luck converting friends/family to your musical tastes. You'd probably have to convince them that Jerry danced like Michael Jackson for it to hold any interest :-)

Milwaukee, Madison and Alpine Valley in WI. A few venues in IL, indoor and out. I would have to check the old tickets to jog my memory. Blew off Soldier Field in 95. I just did not feel like another show there. Next show was The Dead at Summerfest in Milwaukee in 2003.

Here is an interesting link (pseudo link), http://www.alpinestaff.com/about_us.html

I would trade all but my first show to have heard the wall of sound system. You can tell from some of the aud tapes that it was an impressive achievement.

Yes,At the Cow Palace they were still working out some minor bugs. The piano was to loud things were not in phase but after now hearing the HDCD it's a great show.Another show which I never heard before was the Pembrooke Pines,Fl show .This was the clearest concise sounding system I had ever heard. This was running through my big house stereo gear. The only caviat here would be Pink Floyd's surround system which shook Yankee Stadium but the WOS started it all w/ the best amps, speakers, array, mix and more important use.

Thats where I went to college. A perfect home base for a Grateful Dead show hog. Three hours to Philly, Three hours to Worcester, three hours to Providence, MSG and Hartford are right in your backyard at an hour away. We would drive to NYC, park in the village and take the subway to the Garden. Mamoun's before a Dead show...oh man...it was a ritual.
